SAE Pressed Wool Felt

Pressed wool felt is made of natural wool via carding, high-temperature felting and high-pressure compression. It features compact texture, firm structure, lint resistance and stable shape.

Wool scales are opened by hot-water wetting, then the wool fibers interlock, tangle and shrink through repeated mechanical kneading, rolling, beating and squeezing. Under continuous pressure, the fibers are densely compacted to form non-woven, glue-free and tightly structured felt boards.

Pressed Wool Felt Production Process
 


1.Raw material pretreatment

Select high-quality wool → opening → cleaning and degreasing → removing grease and impurities to ensure clean and lint-free felt.

2.Wool laying

Lay wool evenly with thickness controlled according to finished product specifications.

3.Felt-forming solution spraying

Spray hot water at 45–65℃ mixed with a small amount of neutral soap solution or additives to wet the wool.

4.Rolling & felting (core process, needle-free compression)

Feed wool into roller press or hydraulic press. Repeated horizontal and vertical rolling and kneading make fibers interlock and compact under pressure to take shape gradually.

5.Squeezing & dewatering

Highpressure squeezing to remove excess water.

6.Drying & shaping

Dry in oven at 80–120℃ generally.

7.Hot-press finishing

Precise hot-pressing under high temperature and pressure to fix thickness, density and polish surface.

8.Post-treatment

Edge trimming, surface sanding and inspection to produce finished boards or rolls.
