China’s Wool Felt Exports Remain Stable
Looking at China's own export data, the overall export volume of wool felt products has remained steady. According to statistics from CEIC Data, China's export volume of unimpregnated, uncoated, uncovered, or unlaminated felt of wool or fine animal hair reached 172.639 tons in February 2026, down from 261.517 tons in January. This decline was mainly due to the Chinese New Year holiday factor. Looking at the long-term trend, as one of the world's largest felt producing and exporting countries, China maintains a strong competitive advantage in both industrial felt and consumer felt sectors.
In 2026, the wool felt industry stands at a new starting point for development. On the technology front, innovations such as fiber felt composite materials continue to emerge, driving industrial-grade products toward higher precision and more sophisticated applications. On the consumer side, market segments such as fashion accessories and handicrafts continue to expand, with natural, eco-friendly, handcrafted wool felt products gaining increasing favor among consumers.
At the same time, China, as an important participant in the global felt industry, must seize the opportunities of domestic substitution driven by industrial upgrading, while also keeping a close eye on changing trends in consumer markets — making sustained efforts on both the technology and market fronts.
For felt manufacturers and exporters, keeping pace with technological frontiers, deepening their focus on niche markets, and embracing cross-border e-commerce will be the keys to winning the future.
