For thick plates or materials with extremely high tension uniformity requirements (such as aluminum foil), the felt is fixed to the surfaces of the upper and lower anvil plates. This ensures uniform stress on the strip and more stable tension. During the slitting process, the tension stand felt also serves to remove oil contamination from the sheet surface and protect the metal surface from scratches.

Material and Parameters

The current mainstream material is polyester fiber felt, which features a soft, wear-resistant surface, is lint-free, and has a long service life.

Common thickness ranges from 3mm to 30mm, with weight (grammage) ranging from 500 g/m² to 9,000 g/m².

For special materials such as silicon steel, hardened treatments or specifically engineered density grades are available.


Maintenance and Replacement

Different materials require different types of felt. For example, available data indicates that stainless steel and galvanized sheets typically use "large chemical fiber felt," while cold-rolled and hot-rolled sheets use "medium chemical fiber felt."

In daily production, the appropriate felt type must be selected based on the material being processed. The felt should be cleaned at least once per coil, and replaced promptly when it is no longer serviceable.


Layered (Peelable) Design

Some felt products feature a layered/peelable design. When the surface layer becomes worn or contaminated, it can be peeled off to expose a fresh underlying layer, thereby extending overall service life and reducing costs.
